How to Translate Cart Drawer and Sticky Add to Cart
Translating the Cart Drawer
If your store sells in more than one language, you can translate the text in the cart drawer so each customer sees it in their own language. Anything you haven't translated falls back to your default text automatically.
The most important thing to know: there is no single global "language" button. Translations are added per section, in a Translations area at the bottom of each section's settings. Once you know to look there, it's the same quick steps everywhere.
Add a translation
- Open the section whose text you want to translate (e.g. Settings, Upsell, Spend tiers).
- Scroll to the Translations area at the bottom of that section.
- Click Add translation.
- Pick a language. Only languages published in your Shopify store appear here.
- Fill in the translated text and Save.
The Add translation button is greyed out if you've already translated every published language, or if your store has only one language.
Edit or delete a translation
- Edit — in the Translations area, find the language, click Edit, change the text, and save.
- Delete — click Delete next to the language. Customers in that language then see your default text.
What can be translated, and where
Because translations are per section, you add them in the section that owns the text:
| Text | Section |
|---|---|
| Cart title, empty-cart message, empty-cart button | Settings |
| Spend tier progress & completed messages | Spend tiers (per market) |
| Upsell offer name, button text, discount message | Upsell (per offer) |
| Discount link, field label, error messages, button | Discounts |
| Subtotal label | Subtotal |
| Checkout button text | Checkout button |
| Order note labels and button | Order note |
| Announcement bar message | Announcement bar |
| Timer message | Timer |
| Custom HTML block content | Custom block (per block) |
| Order add-on name & description | Order upsell |
Translations aren't showing on the storefront
If a translation saves in the app but customers still see the default language:
- Confirm the language is published in Shopify admin → Settings → Languages (not just added).
- Make sure the customer's storefront locale actually matches that language.
- Re-save the section and hard-refresh the storefront (or check in incognito) to clear cached content.
If it still doesn't appear, send us the language and store URL.
The language I need isn't in the dropdown
Only languages published in Shopify show up. To add one:
- Go to Shopify admin → Settings → Languages.
- Click Add language, choose it, and publish it.
- Return to Essential Cart Drawer — it'll now appear in the Translations dropdown.
How to Translate Sticky Add to Cart Bar
If you want to display your Sticky Add to Cart Bar in multiple languages, you can easily translate its text directly inside the app. Below is a clear explanation of what can be translated and where to do it.
Where Translations Can Be Added 🛠️
Translations can be configured separately depending on which part of the bar you want to translate:
1. Button Tab — Button Text Only
Inside the Button tab, you can translate only the button labels:
- Add to Cart button text
- Sold Out button text
This section controls strictly the button wording and does not affect any other text elements.
2. Announcement Bar Tab — Full Text Translation
Inside the Announcement Bar tab, you can translate multiple elements:
You can localize:
- Announcement text
- Timer labels (days, hours, minutes, seconds)
- End message
This allows the entire announcement bar content to match the selected language.
How to Add a Translation ➕
To add translations:
- Open the widget settings
- Click Add translation
- Select the target language
- Enter translated text in the available fields
- Click Add and save the widget
Once added, the app will automatically display the correct language based on the visitor’s storefront language. If you do not see the language you wanted, you nee to publish the Shopify Market in that specific Language and the option will appear on our application.
Important Notes ⚠️
- Each language must be added manually
- If translations are missing, the default language text will be shown
- Always save and republish the widget after adding translations
Tips for Best Results ✅
- Keep translations concise so they fit inside buttons
- Double-check timer label abbreviations for each language
- Preview translations on both desktop and mobile views
