Cart Drawer Troubleshooting and FAQ
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Quick answers to the things merchants most often ask. If your issue isn't here — or a fix doesn't work — send us your store URL and a screenshot or screen recording and we'll dig in.
The cart drawer isn't appearing at all
Two things must both be done: Publish in the app, and enable the app embed in your theme (Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds → Essential Cart Drawer → Save).
Add to cart redirects to the cart page
Your theme's add-to-cart button isn't being recognised. Set the Custom cart button selector in Settings → Advanced.
The drawer auto-opens on every page load / refresh (especially Safari)
The drawer should only open on a deliberate Add to cart. If it opens on navigation or refresh, first check the Open on add to cart setting. If the drawer still pops open on its own, that's not expected — contact us with your store URL and the browser/device so we can investigate.
The checkout button doesn't work / first click goes to the cart page
If the button does nothing, or the first click lands on /cart instead of checkout, check the button's action setting first. If it persists, send us a recording — this can be a theme-specific timing issue we fix per store.
The drawer takes several seconds to open on my theme
On some themes (e.g. Turbo) the theme runs its own add-to-cart animation before handing control over, which delays the drawer. It's the theme's animation plus waiting for Shopify's cart to update. Tell us your theme, and we'll advise on the best setup.
Accelerated checkout buttons (Apple Pay, etc.) aren't showing
Which express buttons appear is controlled by Shopify, not the app — they come from your Shopify Payments settings. Make sure the wallets are enabled there and that your store/region is eligible. The app only chooses whether the accelerated-checkout area is shown and its button height.
I see duplicate Add-to-Cart events in Google / Meta
Some stores see add-to-cart events counted twice when both the theme's pixel and the app's tracking fire. If duplicate events are causing reporting problems, contact us with the platforms affected so we can advise on the right setup for your store.
Will the drawer show prices in my customers' local currency?
Yes — the cart drawer follows Shopify Markets multi-currency, so prices display in the customer's market currency. Note that third-party currency-converter apps are not followed — only Shopify's native Markets currencies. For local spend-tier thresholds.
Does this app manage my subscriptions?
No. The cart drawer displays subscription / selling-plan information that already exists (plan name, swap-plan UI, labels), but it does not create or manage recurring orders — that's handled by your subscription app. If a plan name is missing on a line item, tell us which subscription app you use.
Can I show the drawer on desktop only and use the native cart on mobile?
Not as a built-in toggle today — the drawer is enabled site-wide. If you need device-specific cart behaviour, contact us to discuss options for your store.
I got an error saving my settings
Try again after a hard refresh; if it keeps happening, send us a screen recording of the save and the exact settings you were changing so we can reproduce it.
