How to Cancel Your Plan on Essential Cart Drawer
If you ever decide to cancel your plan, the process is quick and fully handled through Shopify. Below we explain where to cancel, what happens to your cart drawer and your settings, how your refund credit is calculated, and how downgrading differs from cancelling.
📌 Important Things to Know Before You Cancel
- You can cancel yourself at any time from the Plans page. There is no need to contact us first.
- Cancelling takes effect immediately and never triggers an extra charge.
- Your cart drawer is unpublished and stops appearing on your storefront. Visitors see your theme’s default cart instead.
- The unused days of your current billing period are credited back to you automatically as a Shopify app credit.
- Your settings and designs are kept, so re-subscribing brings everything back exactly as it was.
- If you would rather keep the drawer running on a smaller plan, downgrade instead of cancelling.
Let’s walk through everything step by step 👇
1️⃣ How to Cancel Your Plan
- Open the app and go to Plans in the left-hand menu.
- Press Show all plans to expand the list.
- Find the row for your current plan. It carries a Cancel subscription link.
- Press it, read the confirmation, then press Cancel subscription again to confirm.
That’s it. Billing is handled by Shopify, so nothing else is needed from you.
2️⃣ What Happens the Moment You Cancel
Cancelling takes effect straight away. Three things happen:
- Your cart drawer is unpublished and disappears from your storefront. Shoppers see your theme’s built-in cart instead. Nothing on your store breaks.
- No further charges are made by the app, and the unused days of your current billing period are credited back.
- Your settings and designs are kept. Nothing is deleted. If you subscribe again, your drawer comes back exactly as you left it.
3️⃣ How Your Credit Is Calculated
Because plans are billed at the start of each period, cancelling part-way through means you have paid for days you won’t use. Those days come back to you.
- We work out how many whole days are left in your current billing period.
- That share of what you actually paid this period is issued as a Shopify app credit.
- The credit is applied by Shopify to your account and reduces your next bill.
If you cancel on the same day you were charged, the full amount comes back.
💡 Cancelling on the Free plan means there is nothing to credit, because nothing was charged.
4️⃣ Downgrading Instead of Cancelling
If your order volume has dropped but you still want the cart drawer on your storefront, downgrade rather than cancel. Your drawer keeps working.
- Go to Plans and press Show all plans.
- Press Select this plan on the plan you want.
Downgrading takes effect immediately and costs nothing extra.
📌 Plans follow your actual monthly order volume. If you have already passed a lower plan’s limit this month, the app will move you back up to match your volume. Downgrading works best at the start of a new month.
5️⃣ Uninstalling the App
Uninstalling the app from Shopify also cancels your subscription automatically, and Shopify stops any further charges. Your cart drawer stops appearing on your storefront right away.
⚠️ Cancel first if you want the credit. Uninstalling ends the subscription but does not issue a prorated credit for the unused days. If you are part-way through a paid period, cancel from the Plans page first, then uninstall. That way the unused days are credited back to you.
6️⃣ Coming Back Later
Your settings, designs and campaigns are kept, so re-subscribing restores everything. A few things to know:
- You subscribe again the same way: Plans → Start for FREE, then publish your drawer.
- You will be placed on the current plans and prices at that time.
- The 14-day free trial does not restart. It is one window per store. If your original 14 days have not run out yet, you keep whatever is left.
