Are Back in Stock subscribers notified when I put the product on preorder? (Essent Preorder Back in Stock app)

No. Back in Stock emails are triggered only by a real restock, when the variant's inventory rises to your threshold. Adding the product to a preorder campaign while it is still out of stock sends nothing.

If you want your waitlist to know preorders are open:

  1. Export the subscriber list from Back in stock → Products & Notifications → Export notifications.
  2. Email them from your usual email tool, for example Shopify Email.

You can show both buttons on the same product while it's on preorder: in the Back in Stock campaign, set If a product is in preorder and back in stock campaigns to Show Notify me and preorder buttons together.
