How do I run an A/B test on only one product or a few products? (Essential CRO Split AB Testing app)

Template tests run on templates, not on individual products. A test runs on every product that uses the template you pick as A Version - original template. To test only some products, give those products their own template first.

1. In Shopify, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize. Open Products in the page selector at the top, click Create template, name it (for example "ab-test-product") and save.
2. Go to Products, open each product you want to test, choose the new template under Theme template and click Save. Make sure no other products use this template.
3. In Essential A/B Testing, click Create a test, choose Template or page, then Select template to test → Products and pick your new template as version A.
4. For version B, click Duplicate original template (or Select new template) and make your changes in that copy.

You don't need to assign version B to the product. Version B stays unassigned in Shopify. The app shows it to part of the visitors on the same product URL.

📌 The preview in the app may show a different product. The app looks for a published product that uses the template, and if it can't find one, it shows the template on another published product. The live test only runs on the products assigned to your version A template.
