Why do customers see a “One-time purchase” option on my preorder product? (Essent Preorder Back in Stock app)

Preorders are sold through a Shopify purchase option (a selling plan). Some themes show a purchase options picker when a product has one, with One-time purchase next to the preorder option. The picker comes from your theme, not from the app, so there is no app setting to remove it.

Customers who click the Preorder button still buy the item as a preorder. The button picks the preorder purchase option for them.

How to remove it

  • Ask support to hide the picker for your theme. Send us the product link.
  • Turn off the selling plan for the campaign. Campaign → Advanced settings → untick Use Shopify selling plan (purchase option) → Save. The product then has no purchase options, so the picker goes away. This also turns off partial payments, the app's preorder discounts and the On hold / Scheduled fulfilment status. See Turn off selling plans for a preorder campaign.

Why not tick “Only sell this product with these purchase options”?

Shopify has this box in the product's Purchase options section. Essential Preorder unticks it when it updates the product's stock settings, so ticking it yourself won't last. Use one of the options above instead.
