Can I show live loyalty points in my own theme or a custom section? (Essential Loyalty app)

Yes, but there are limits. The app makes customer loyalty data available in two ways:

• Customer metafields: the app stores each customer's loyalty data (points, tier, recent activity, and active rewards) in Shopify customer metafields. The app's own landing page blocks use this data. The metafields are updated in the background, so they are not always instantly up to date.
• Public API (Pro plan): the Loyalty REST API lets your own systems read and update loyalty data, such as an ERP, a POS, or a headless storefront backend. It requires an API key and secret, so it must be used from your server. It cannot be called from browser JavaScript, because the secret would be exposed.

Good to know

• There is no general Liquid object for loyalty points. A custom section can read the metafields, but this is not a documented feature and is not guaranteed to be up to date.
• If you need live points on your storefront, contact support before building. They can confirm the right approach for your theme and plan.
