How does the referral program work? (Essential Loyalty app)

The referral program rewards the customer who refers a friend (the referrer), and the friend who signs up (the referee). You can set rewards for each side separately.

Setting it up

Finish the loyalty program setup first. The Set Reward Rate step is required for the whole program, so it can't be skipped for referrals.
Go to Essential Loyalty → Referrals and set the rewards for the referrer and the referee.

Reward types

Each side can get a fixed amount, a percentage, a free product, free shipping, or points.

Referee (friend): gets the reward when they sign up through the referral link. They must be a new customer.
Referrer: gets the reward only after the friend's order is paid.

Good to know

Referrals work on the Free plan, but they are limited by the monthly order limit.
Referral links are shown in the floating widget, in the customer account page, and on the loyalty page. They are not shown on product pages.
Customers usually need to be logged in to see their referral link.
The referral reward cannot exclude specific products. For a free product reward, you choose the product that is given.
