How Pricing Plans Work in Essential Loyalty App
In this guide, we’ll walk you through what happens when you install the app, how the 14-day free trial works, how billing and order-based plans are handled, how monthly order limits work, and how upgrades, downgrades, pauses, and cancellations are managed. 📌 Important Things to Know Before You Start
- When you install the app, your store starts on the "Free plan", and you can launch the Loyalty Program without any charge.
- You get a full 14-day free trial with no charges if you choose any of the paid plans to accommodate your order count.
- If you uninstall the app during the free trial, you won’t be charged anything.
- If you downgrade during the free trial and you did not surpass the orders threshold of the Free Plan, you won’t be charged anything.
- Plans are based on the number of orders per month.
- If you exceed your plan’s order limit, you are charged for extra orders in batches of 100 (no forced upgrades).
- You can upgrade, downgrade, pause, or cancel your plan at any time.

1️⃣ App Installation and Free Trial
When you install the app from the Shopify App Store, your store starts on the "Free plan"
On this plan:
- You have access to most of the features on the app and can start setting up your loyalty program.

You won’t be charged anything.
This gives you time to fully test the app and understand how it works before committing to a paid plan.
2️⃣ Available Plans and Monthly Limits
The app offers three paid plans based on monthly loyalty program orders:

Starter – $29/month
- Up to 500 loyalty program orders
- $12 per additional 100 orders if exceeded
- Dedicated loyalty page
- Full access to all features

Growth – $99/month
- Up to 2,000 loyalty program orders
- $10 per additional 100 orders if exceeded
- Dedicated loyalty page

Plus – $499/month
- Up to 7,500 loyalty program orders
- $8 per additional 100 orders if exceeded

Order counts are reset at the start of every month and are calculated on a monthly billing cycle.
3️⃣ What Happens If You Reach or Exceed Your Order Limit
As you approach your plan’s monthly order limit, you’ll receive notifications (for example, at 80% usage).
If you exceed your limit:

Your plan will not be automatically upgraded.
You’ll simply be charged for additional orders in batches of 100, based on your current plan:
- Starter: $12 per 100 orders
- Growth: $10 per 100 orders

Plus: $8 per 100 orders
Example:
If you’re on the Starter plan ($29 for 500 orders) and reach 590 orders in a month, you’ll pay:
- $29 for the plan
- $12 for one additional batch of 100 orders
- Total: $41 for that month
4️⃣ Free Plan Behaviour and Program Pausing
On the Free plan:
- You have access to core loyalty features.
- The loyalty landing page is not included.
- When the monthly order limit is reached, the loyalty program is automatically paused.

Customers will no longer see points, rewards, or VIP benefits until you upgrade.
You can also manually pause the loyalty program at any time to stop additional orders and charges. When paused, all onsite loyalty elements are deactivated.

5️⃣ How Billing Works
All billing is managed through Shopify Billing:
- Charges appear directly on your Shopify invoice.
- Billing starts on the first day of your 30-day billing cycle after the trial ends.

There are no external payments or hidden fees.
If you upgrade or downgrade mid-cycle:
- Changes take effect immediately.
- Shopify automatically applies prorated charges or credits.
6️⃣ Upgrading, Downgrading, or Cancelling Your Plan
You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time from the app’s Billing section.
If you cancel:
- The cancellation takes effect immediately.
- Your loyalty program is turned off.

Customers will lose access to points, rewards, and VIP statuses.
Any unused time is automatically converted into prorated credits by Shopify.
