Pricing Plans: Preorder Limits and what happens when you Reach Them

What counts toward the preorder limit?

We count preorder orders placed through Essential Preorder campaigns. In most cases, this is measured per billing month (your app billing cycle).


Where to see your usage

Go to App admin → Pricing plans. You’ll see:

  • Your current plan
  • How many preorder orders you’ve used this month
  • Any overage rate (for paid plans)

Warning at 80%

When you reach around 80% of your preorder allowance, you’ll see an in-app warning so you have time to upgrade before anything pauses.


If you are on the Free plan

When you hit the Free plan preorder cap:

  • Your preorder campaigns can be unpublished (so the preorder button stops showing on your store).
  • If a grace period applies, you’ll see the exact timing in the warning banner inside the app.

How to keep preorders running:

  • Upgrade to a paid plan (recommended), or
  • Wait until your allowance resets (based on your billing cycle)

If you are on a paid plan (Starter or Essentials)

If you exceed your included preorder orders:

  • Your campaigns keep running
  • You’ll be charged for orders above the limit at your plan’s rate

Examples:

  • Starter: 135 preorder orders in a month

    Included 100, overage 35 × $0.20 = $7.00

  • Essentials: 560 preorder orders in a month

    Included 500, overage 60 × $0.10 = $6.00

Overage is billed through Shopify as app charges (you’ll see it on your Shopify bill).

Will my preorder button disappear if I hit the Free limit?

It can. Free-plan preorder campaigns may be unpublished at the cap to prevent further preorder orders.

Do limits reset monthly?

Yes, limits reset on your app billing cycle. Check Pricing plans to see your current usage and plan.

What should I do if I’m about to hit limits?

Upgrade before you reach the cap (best option), especially if you rely on active preorder campaigns or time-sensitive Back in Stock alerts.
