Cart Drawer Upsell Analytics: What You Can and Can't See
This article explains what cart and upsell data Essential Cart Drawer gives you, what it does not track, and where to look for the rest.
What the cart analytics feature shows
Essential Cart Drawer includes a cart analytics feature that shipped in August 2026. It tracks an attributed funnel and click-based checkout initiation, so you can see how many shoppers open the drawer, add items, and start checkout.
Requirements to see data
- You must have a cart drawer that is published and live on your storefront. Analytics counters only run for shops with a live drawer.
- If you only use the sticky Add to Cart button and have not published the drawer itself, your shop is not counted in this funnel.
- Open the analytics section in Shopify Admin to check your data.
An in-app banner tells you the date your data starts from. Any activity before that date is not recorded, so do not expect historical numbers.

There was a short gap in data collection: storefront collection was disabled on 13 August 2026 pending scope approval and restored on 17 August 2026. Expect a gap in your numbers for that window.
What this feature does not do
The cart analytics feature is not a full dashboard like the one built into Sticky Cart.

If you rely on Facebook or Google Ads for retargeting, set up the Facebook Pixel or Google Analytics separately. Essential Cart Drawer will not send these events for you.
Tracking upsell usage
Every upsell item added through the drawer carries a line item property called __essential_cart_drawer_upsell_id. You can use this property to identify upsell-driven line items in your order data.
Can you disable this property?
- No. The property is required for the upsell feature to work.
- Disabling it also disables upsell functionality. There is no way to keep upsells and remove the property.
Separate app analytics
If you use Essential Upsell, that app has its own analytics section in Shopify Admin. It shows Impressions, Conversions, Conversion Rate, and Total Revenue. This is a separate app from Essential Cart Drawer.
Comparing performance and running tests
Before/after comparison
- Use Shopify Analytics to compare total sales, conversion rate, and average order value before and after you enabled the drawer.
A/B testing
Essential Cart Drawer has no built-in A/B testing or traffic-splitting feature.
- If you want to test the drawer against your theme's default cart, use a separate tool such as Essential A/B Testing or another theme/traffic-split tool.
- Set this up outside Essential Cart Drawer. The app itself cannot split traffic or run a test for you.
Getting help or requesting a feature
- If you need support to investigate a tracking issue directly on your store, you can grant collaborator access.
- If the data you need does not exist yet, ask support to log it as a feature request in Savio for future consideration.
