Cart Drawer: Excluding Products From Spend-Tier Totals

This article explains how to exclude specific products from spend-tier totals, including the free shipping threshold and free gift (GWP) offers, and what limits apply.

Excluding products from a spend tier total

  1. Go to Cart Drawer > Spend tiers.
  2. Open the tier you want to change.
  3. Find the exclude products setting for that tier.
  4. Select the products you want to leave out of the spend total.

Products you exclude here are still shown in the cart. They just don't count toward the tier's total.

Excluding a product does not hide it from the cart. It only stops its price from adding to the spend-tier total.

Excluding products from the free shipping threshold

The free shipping threshold is a spend tier. Use the same exclude products setting on that tier to leave specific products out of the threshold total.

  1. Go to Cart Drawer > Spend tiers.
  2. Open the free shipping tier.
  3. Add the products you want to exclude to the exclude products setting.

Restricting a tier to specific products only

If you'd rather define which products count, instead of which ones don't, set the tier to only count certain products.

  1. Open the tier.
  2. Set Reward for to Specific products added to cart.
  3. In the tier goal section, select only the products that should count toward the total.

Any product not selected here will not count toward this tier, even if it's in the cart.

Excluding products from triggering a free gift (GWP)

A reward can also exclude specific products from triggering it. This applies to whole products only.

  1. Go to Cart Drawer > Spend tiers.
  2. Open the tier tied to the free gift offer.
  3. Add the products you want to exclude from triggering the gift.

You cannot exclude a single variant from triggering a free gift. Exclusion works at the product level only.

Limits on exclusions

Exclusion type Supported
Specific product Yes
Specific variant No
Whole collection No

If you need to exclude a full collection, add each product from that collection to the exclusion list individually. There is no collection-level setting.

There is also no way to exclude a single variant while keeping other variants of the same product included. Exclusion applies to the whole product.

Why the progress bar stays visible with excluded products

The free shipping bar and progress booster stay visible even when the cart only contains excluded products. The bar does not update in this case, but it does not disappear.

The booster cannot automatically hide itself when a cart mixes eligible and excluded products. If any progress-eligible item is present, the bar reflects that item's contribution only.
